Bret Michaels: “You’re Hired!”

Those were Donald Trump’s final words to Bret Michaels on last night’s season finale of “Celebrity Apprentice.” It was an emotional show, no doubt. I know ‘cause I watched and was crying out of joy and happiness for Bret who deservedly won, not only because of his recent serious health ailments, but because he played the game so well. His never-ending passion to find a cure for diabetes is admirable.

I’m not a diehard rock fan, and it’s very rare when a rock group catches my interest. Nor do I watch many reality TV shows, but when I learned of Bret’s participation in this season’s C.A., I just had to watch, at least the season opener and then a couple more episodes.

Bret first piqued my interest when he was a judge on “Nashville Star” a few years ago. I liked his comments and feedback for the contestants, and he was never rude or mean to them. He was a bit goofy, but knew his stuff when it came to music. And then I learned he was the lead singer for glam metal band “Poison.”

A couple of years ago, Bret signed on for his reality TV show, “Rock of Love.” Yes, I admit: I watched, one episode only, thank you very much! I was surprised Bret was doing this kind of show. IMHO, I found the show slimy and cheap and … ugh! I was disappointed.

Then came this season’s C.A., and the celebrity lineup was interesting and included some of my fav stars, like Sinbad and Cyndi Lauper. The first episode was a lot of fun to watch – all these mega stars, all these different personalities. It was most interesting when the majority of the women celebs wrote off Bret from the start. They chose him as the first project manager, thinking that Bret didn’t stand a chance. Guess what? Bret proved them all wrong! He led his team, RockSolid, to victory.

I watched a couple more episodes and had a feeling Bret would do all right. And he did, all the way to the end. I am thrilled he won. Actually, both he and Holly Robinson Peete won big for their respective charities: Snapple matched Brett’s $250,000 winnings and donated it to the HollyRod Foundation. Way to go, Snapple!

Bret is definitely a fighter — perhaps he has nine lives, given the recent medical events in his life! He is well spoken and a gentleman, he is a go-getter, and he seems gentle and kind. Best of all, he loves his family. And I have to admit: Bret’s cute, too!

Congrats, Bret!! You totally Rock!
