Michael Jackson’s “Captain EO”
Posted by admin | Under Singers Wednesday Mar 10, 2010In 1986, Disneyland opened its latest attraction: Captain EO, starring Michael Jackson. The 3D film was produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. The storyline was good, the acting okay, but the music and dancing by MJ were, well, amazing!! Captain EO was a very popular Disneyland attraction until it closed in 1997. After Michael’s tragic death in 2009, however, Disneyland reopened Captain EO on February 23, 2010, much to his many, many fans’ delight!
My husband and I were recently at Disneyland and revisited Captain EO – a Tribute to Michael Jackson. The line was long but moved quickly. It was again a highly anticipated attraction, to say the least, but more so this time. Once inside the theater, we were greeted by a hostess who told us to quickly sit down, put our 3D glasses on and get ready for the show. The audience of 500 went wild – they cheered and did the MJ scream: Whoo! Then the film began. We were once again thrilled and amazed to see the King of Pop strut his stuff. I’d forgotten what a gifted entertainer he was, and how much energy he brought to the stage and screen. And his songs of love, goodness, hope and peace came back to life. It was so good to see this film again. At the end of the film, I smiled and said, “Wow!” While quickly exiting the theatre, the audience clapped and cheered, making room for the next audience of 500 to enjoy this amazing film. The next time you go to Disneyland, be sure to see Captain EO. You will love it all over – again!
Here’s part 2 of 2 of Captain EO, compliments of YouTube.
