Wilson Phillips: “Hold On”

In the early 1990s, I was going through a crisis that forever changed my life. I had to make a decision that would affect many lives, but kept dragging my feet. I fervently hoped and prayed for divine intervention, for healing. I spent many days crying and had many sleepless nights. I felt all alone and was in despair. Then one day, while listening to the radio, a song by Wilson Phillips came on. It was “Hold On.” I felt the song spoke directly to me. The words were powerful song and guided me through making my decision. The chorus in the song was probably the most powerful for me:

“Someday somebody’s gonna make you
wanna turn around and say goodbye.
Until then, baby, are you gonna let
them hold you down and make you cry.
Don’t you know, don’t you know things’ll change
Things will go your way
If you hold on for one more day
If you hold on for one more day
Things’ll go your way
Hold on for one more day.”

I call this song my victory song because ever since that life-changing decision, I have been very happy and content with my life. I overcame so many obstacles and I’ve become a much stronger person. And my wonderful husband has been there for me ever since. He truly is my rock!
