A dear friend of ours passed away a little more than a week ago, after having fought a long illness. He was a brave and courageous man! His favorite song was “Drift Away” by Dobie Gray, and that’s the song that will be sung at his Celebration of Life ceremony. I’ve always liked this song, too, but never really paid much attention to the words until this evening. Our friend found comfort in the music and the freedom to finally drift away. Here’s to you, Dick!

Your caring and love are greatly felt by our family. You knew firsthand the very
challenging life my son lived and the joy he found in so much. This was, indeed a song
that justly pays tribute to his continual quest to live life and his willingness to let that
all drift away when it was not possible any longer.
