About Me

Music and singing have always been a part of my life, thanks to my beloved parents! My mom was a professional singer; my dad was an electronics engineer as well as my mom’s music manager. My mom taught me the art of singing; I inherited her vocal talent and for that, and so much more, I am forever grateful.

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, but spent my early childhood years in Holland. My family and I emigrated to the U.S. in 1967, and in March 1996, I proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen. My first language is Dutch (I still speak, read and write it after all these years!), and English my second.

I studied classical piano and received my B.A. in Music Education from California State University, Fullerton. But I have always preferred singing over playing the piano because singing comes more naturally to me. And it’s easier, too! :-)

After I graduated from CSUF, I taught private piano and private voice. I also performed in nightclubs in Southern California, and cabaret shows, dinner theatre and community theatre in Northern California.

My favorite music genres include Big Band tunes, the great American standards, and jazz.
